After 19 years as the top duo in country music, Brooks and Dunn have called it quits.
Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn announced their separation Monday on their website, saying, “After 20 years of making music and riding this trail together, we have agreed as a duo that it’s time call it a day.”
Brooks and Dunn made their presence in country music known as soon as they arrived on the scene and they have not looked back since. The duos first four singles, “Brand New Man,” “My Next Broken Heart,” “Neon Moon” and “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” all reached the number one spot on Billboard Magazine’s country music chart.
During their time together, the duo has released 10 studio albums and has had 50 charted singles. Twenty of those singles reached the number one spot.
As the duo announces its breakup, its song “Indian Summer” sits at number 18 on the charts.
The duo also has one extremely crowded display case, earning more than 50 song, group and video awards, including 14 Vocal Duo of the Year awards from the Country Music Awards and 16 Top Vocal Duo awards from the Academy of Country Music.
Brooks and Dunn also announced they will release a greatest hits album on Sept. 8, which will feature all of the duos number one singles. They will also hit the road for one last tour together in 2010.
